HIFIMAN SUNDARA is an open-type headphone with a specially designed flat magnetic driver, the main technological features of which have been carried over from the older HE-1000 and Edition X. The included detachable headphone cable provides a reliable connection and high signal transmission quality. The relatively high sensitivity of the headphones makes it possible to use them with a stationary amplifier or a portable one in a balanced connection. SUNDARA also offers an impressive frequency range from 6 to 75 kHz with all the dynamic realism that HIFIMAN headphones are known for.
Compared to previous HIFIMAN headphones, the SUNDARA features a new headband that provides a comfortable fit with an even weight distribution of the headphones. Externally, the headphones have a more traditional look, characteristic of the company's earlier models, for example, the beloved beveled shape of the ear cushions. In terms of sound, they have HiFiMAN's signature high level of resolution, and deliver the expected sonic performance across the entire frequency spectrum. SUNDARA provide smooth, extended and delicate high frequencies; and rich, biting, rhythmic basses. Vocals and string instruments are amazingly realistic.
Ultra-thin diaphragm
HIFIMAN has been researching and developing transducer diaphragms for many years, so SUNDARA headphones have absorbed all the most advanced developments. The production, processing and assembly of diaphragm materials is very complex, because it is necessary to create materials with good tensile strength and extremely low weight. The small thickness and mass of the driver means that it has extremely low levels of distortion while still providing a dynamic response. Although difficult, this is made possible by HIFIMAN's extensive experience in creating planar magnetic technology, offering headphones that have amazing tonal richness and detail.
Compared to conventional dynamic drivers, planar magnetic headphones solve problems such as superficial distortion of high-frequency sound and lingering vibrations of a dynamic driver. The large and heavy magnets of dynamic radiators have a residual vibration due to the stored momentum in the radiator after it has moved. Planar magnetic emitters prevent this phenomenon due to the reduced weight of the emitter membrane.
The diaphragm of the new headphones has a thickness of no more than a third of a human hair. This lightweight, high-strength material is paired with HIFIMAN's patented planar magnetic technology to deliver the perfect sound by precisely matching each pair of drivers. The company had to choose from a variety of prototypes, production methods, and the best audio materials to create affordable audio technology.
headband
Ergonomic and comfortable headband will suit most listeners. SUNDARA headphones provide a comfortable fit with an urban aesthetic. The minimalistic appearance of the headband is perfectly complemented by a black matte finish.
The new headband also includes a smooth, solid fork that attaches the frame to the cups, creating a seamless, ergonomic curve. The single metal construction makes it strong enough to withstand quite severe tests.
Lattices
The new grilles on the SUNDARA bowls strike the perfect balance on three fronts: sound, protection and aesthetics. The glossy sheen creates a striking contrast against the matte black bowls.
Cables
The cable configuration used for SUNDARA is crystalline copper wire. Consists of materials that provide low resistance in signal transmission and high mechanical strength in daily use.
Cables can be easily replaced with custom ones, the main thing is not to mix up the channels.
Connectors
SUNDARA uses classic 3.5 mm connectors to connect a replaceable cable. This gives a strong and reliable physical cable connection and a large surface area for signal transmission. And the large area contact group provides good transit for a more powerful signal, allowing the amplifier to better open the headphones.
Ear pads
The SUNDARA ear cushion architecture completely encloses your ear, evenly distributing their weight. The ear cups themselves feature a neat beveled edge, thereby providing superior comfort and a secure fit for extended listening sessions.
