Active acoustics Klipsch The Fives Walnut

The American company Klipsch presents a new model of bookshelf active speaker systems from the Heritage series of wireless speakers, made in retro design: Klipsch The Fives. This model is a smaller version of the already existing The Sixes, but has expanded functionality. The Klipsch The Fives features a very high quality finish using natural walnut veneers as well as brass trim. The speaker grille features historic Klipsch logos, just like the classic Heritage Series models. The speakers are equipped with a remote control.
Structurally, Klipsch The Fives are a two-way system, where the high-frequency range is sounded by a compression driver loaded on a horn with a Tractrix profile. All other frequencies are served by a mid-bass speaker with a diameter of 13 cm. The front panel is covered with a protective mesh, covered with fabric, reminiscent of classic models of the 1950s. All electronic parts, including power amplifiers, a processor and aptX HD Bluetooth module, are located in one speaker, and the amplified signal is sent to the other. All physical controls are located on the top panel. The input set includes a 3.5mm mini-jack, RCA pair, HDMI ARC, digital optical input and USB port with support for 24/192 signals. When connected via Bluetooth to a smartphone, the user will be able to use a proprietary application to adjust the sound of the speakers.
One of the outstanding features of the new Klipsch The Fives monitors is that you can find not only multiple interfaces for different audio sources, but most of all an HDMI input. It not only has ARC, i.e. Audio Return Channel, but even so-called eARC, i.e. Enhanced Audio Return Channel, so that high-resolution audio can also be transmitted over two channels to the new Klipsch The Fives Powered monitors. In this context, it's important to highlight that the new Klipsch The Fives powered monitors have DSP-based signal processing for up to 24-bit and 192kHz playback, but they're actually limited to stereo, so there's no virtual surround option offered.
The said DSP is mainly used for extensive audio adjustments, such as using an equalizer.
In addition to the HDMI connection, an optical S/PDIF interface, a USB port, an analog input in the form of a pair of Cinch connectors, and a phono pre-cascade are also available. As if this were not enough, Bluetooth should not be missing either, since each one relies on a module from the Qualcomm specialist and thus supports not only aptX, but even aptX HD and therefore signals up to 24 bits and 48 kHz.
Klipsch Fives powered monitors don't really miss anything when it comes to a variety of connections, rather they form a particularly 'short' Hi-Fi circuit that also allows the subwoofer to be driven via the corresponding output for playback. to make it even more confident in the lowest frequency range.
As it could be otherwise, of course, the developers also rely on the classic driver configuration for this new active speaker system. It uses a 4.5-inch woofer with a fiber-reinforced composite diaphragm, as well as a 2.5-centimeter titanium tweeter with a Tractrix horn. Even the bass reflection system, which looks like hintgen, should not be missing.
They are driven by a Class D amplifier that delivers a total of 160W, two 60W for the low/mid range drivers and two 20W for the tweeters. The loudspeaker system is designed to display the frequency range from 50 Hz to 25 kHz.
Obviously, the design of the new Klipsch The Fives Powered monitors is based on the previous solutions of the Klipsch Heritage series of wireless speakers, so the legendary speakers also borrow from the company's long, long history.
The new Klipsch The Fives Powered monitors are based on an MDF cabinet, giving you a choice of walnut or matte black finishes.
The system dimensions are 304.8 mm high, 165.1 mm wide and 234.9 mm deep. This means the speakers weigh 5.35kg in active mode and another 4.85kg in passive mode.
The design of the new Klipsch The Fives Powered monitors is based on the previous designs of the Klipsch Heritage series of wireless speakers, so the legendary speakers also borrow from the company's long, long history. The new Klipsch The Fives Powered Monitors are available in two versions, namely matte black and walnut finish.
A suitable infrared remote control will be included with the new Klipsch The Fives monitors. If you connect it to your TV via HDMI, of course HDMI CEC will be supported, so to control the volume when watching TV, you only need to control the TV remotely.
