The 11.2-channel flagship Marantz AV8802 Black replaces the AV8801 AV processor. Its main advantage is the ability to work with the Dolby Atmos format (up to a 7.1.4 configuration with 4 ceiling speakers), which allows you to get multi-dimensional sound with precise localization of audio effects. Optional installation of a decoder is available to support the new Auro-3D audio standard in 10.1-channel version, which is based on a three-layer surround sound construction principle.

The model is equipped with four DSPs and works with a variety of audio formats, including DTS Neo:X (11.1) and Audyssey DSX, thanks to which additional channels can be used. The flagship supports 4K Ultra HD resolution (50/60Hz, 4:4:4 Pure Color) and upscales any video to 1080p and 4K. ISFccc professional video calibration available. HDCP 2.2 content protection technology is planned to be supported for 4K Blu-ray disc playback in the future.

Each channel has an AK4490 DAC (32bit/192kHz) and a discrete HDAM module for high quality sound. The circuits use current feedback, and a toroidal transformer is installed in the power supply.

The unit uses Audyssey MultEQ XT32 (Pro ready) and Sub EQ HT auto calibration technology to optimize the sound of a dual subwoofer system, Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ to optimize signal level and frequency response. There is an Audyssey LFC function that eliminates bass leakage into adjacent rooms.

The flagship has built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, supports AirPlay and the DLNA (v1.5) protocol for accessing the audio content of servers and computers when connected to a local network. High resolution audio formats are played, including DSD (2.8 MHz). Popular web services are supported, incl. Spotify. You can control the Marantz AV8802 using the remote control or through the application from devices based on iOS and Android. The chassis of the model has a copper coating. On the front panel there is a volume control and an input selector, between which there is a round display. A flip cover hides a second display, controls, 6.3mm headphone jack, mini jack for calibration microphone, USB port (with iPod/iPhone/iPad support), HDMI input and AV connections. The rear panel of the Marantz AV8802 has 7 HDMI (2.0) inputs and a rich set of composite, component, optical, coaxial and analog connectors. There is an XLR input, 7.1-channel RCA and MM phono inputs. There are 3 HDMI outputs for simultaneous image output to three screens and 13.2-channel outputs (RCA and XLR).
