Bowers & Wilkins Diamond 805 D3

The B&W Diamond 805 D3 speaker system is the smallest in its series, and can become the basis of a compact high-end cabinet audio set. The speaker cabinet has elegant contours and a very high-quality exterior finish, and at the same time, the design of the speaker takes into account all the nuances that can affect the sound quality. The sloping sides of the cabinet not only give the 805 D3 a refined appearance, but, in combination with the internal Matrix structure, dampen stray vibrations. In addition, due to the curved front panel, sound waves do not scatter at its edges, and the speaker literally dissolves into the sound stage. The AC protective grid is mounted on invisible magnetic latches.

On the top panel of the speaker is a tweeter in its own housing in the form of a tapering tube. This solution provides excellent damping of the tweeter, allows effective damping of sound waves emitted by the back of its diaphragm, and provides a visual continuity of the 805 D3 with B&W high-end speakers of yesteryear. However, these speakers use a diamond dome tweeter, which has never before been installed in bookshelf speakers. This speaker has an extended frequency response of up to 28 kHz (3dB level) and exceptionally detailed and open sound.

The B&W Diamond 805 D3 woofer has a new Continuum cone, mounted on a wide elastic suspension, with a phase equalizing cap in the center. The woofer is loaded on a proprietary Flowport phase inverter with a low level of acoustic noise, the wide outlet of which is brought to the front panel. Thanks to this, the speakers can be installed close to the wall of the room without distorting the frequency response in the low frequency range. If necessary, the phase inverter can be partially or completely drowned out using the inserts included in the kit, and thus adjust the speaker output on the bass.

The B&W Diamond 805 D3 features a crossover filter made from selected audiophile-grade components and a two-pair array of custom-made universal jacks that accept any type of speaker plug. The columns are completed with supports in the form of spikes and rubber hemispheres.
