Unison Research Unico CDPrimo premium hybrid CD player.
The Unico CDPrimo hybrid CD player is the junior model of Unison Research's renowned Unico CD player.
Despite the Primo prefix, from a technical point of view, the device is a full-fledged product of the High End class. Thus, the layout of the transport involves reading data from a CD into a buffer of increased capacity and then transferring them at a constant speed, which minimizes unwanted fluctuations. Additionally, a system of automatic error checking during reading is used. Noiselessness due to the use of a brushless synchronous motor.
The key feature of the Unico series turntable is the tube output stage, which this time is made on a single double triode operating in class A. Analog circuits are built on the principle of zero feedback.
The Unico CDPrimo player has a lower price by about a third compared to the Unico CD, which required the developers to abandon some of the additional features of the player. The younger model lacks balanced outputs, as well as digital and optical inputs. The Unico CDPrimo CD player has standard RCA jacks and a digital output (96kHz) allowing the Unico CDPrimo to be used as a high quality transport.
