TOPPING MX5 Desktop DAC, Headphone Amplifier and Speaker Amplifier
Topping MX5 is a DAC amplifier for acoustics and headphones. The presence of a large number of interfaces and high sound quality makes the device truly universal. For example, it can receive a signal via Bluetooth thanks to the QCC3031 chip or via USB via the XMOS XU208 interface.

Topping MX5 is an all-in-one combination device. It combines a DAC with both USB and Bluetooth signal capabilities with an amplifier section. It can also act as an amplifier for headphones or acoustics.
The model is based on a pair of ESS ES9068ES DACs. These are complemented by a headphone amplifier section based on NFCA circuitry. As for acoustics, a special Merus section is used for it.
The device supports uncompressed formats up to DSD256 PCM 348 kHz for a wired connection via XMOS XU208 and supports aptX codecs for Bluetooth.
The source for a wired connection via USB can be a smartphone or PC.
In turn, coaxial and optical inputs are also available. Through them you can connect a set-top box, console, CD player and the like.
DAC ES9068AS
The digital/analog conversion stage performed by two ESS ES9068AS DACs ensures high quality and fidelity audio reproduction. This is evidenced, for example, by a THD+N coefficient of up to 0.0008%, a dynamic range of up to 128 dB.
XMOS XU208
The Topping MX5 USB input operates on the XMOS XU208 interface. It, in turn, provides broad compatibility with the vast majority of devices. The DAC supports high sampling rates, up to 32-bit/384 kHz PCM, native DSD256 playback, as well as MQA decoding. So the device will not become a weak link when playing high-quality recordings.
Bluetooth
Topping MX5 has not only wired but also wireless connectivity. The latter is due to the QCC3031 receiver chip. This is a Bluetooth module with support for high definition data transmission codecs. Namely - aptX, aptX HD, aptX LL. In addition to standard SBC and AAC. In addition, the device circuit works in such a way that the received signal is sent to the ES9068AS DAC of the device, and is not decoded by the chip built into the receiver.
NFCA Headphone Amplifier
The NFCA headphone amplifier circuit is fully optimized specifically for the DX5. It provides very low noise and distortion. That is, the device is capable of working with both sensitive headphones and “heavy” models. For example, full-size ones, the resistance of which reaches several hundred Ohms. At the output, the device is capable of delivering up to 2x1600 mW at 32 Ohms or 2x260 mW at 300 Ohms. So there are two levels of gain control for even greater versatility and precise volume control.
Amplifier Merus MA12070 class D
Featuring an integrated Infineon Merus MA12070 Class D amplifier chip, the MX5 is capable of delivering 2x55W at 4 ohms (1% THD) or up to 70W (at 10% THD). This makes it more than suitable for working with active acoustics. In addition, it offers superior sound fidelity and richness.
