Digital-to-analog converter TEAC UD-505-S Silver
The external TEAC UD-503 DAC, equipped with a headphone amplifier, continues the development of its predecessor UD-501. Its main difference from the UD-501 is the use of new VERITA AK4490 chips (one per channel)
For PCM, you can use one of five switchable digital filters, and for the DSD stream, there are two filters to choose from. The DAC is equipped with an upsampler that upsamples PCM to 32bit/384kHz and converts PCM to DSD (up to 24.5MHz).
Each channel is powered by a separate toroidal transformer, and a digital isolator protects the analog circuits from the ingress of noise generated by digital sources and other circuits. The analog section houses four buffer discrete high-current amplifier stages (TEAC-HCLD technology) to guarantee a wide dynamic range. Two of them are used for balanced output, and the other two are used for RCA output.
The model has a high-precision TEAC-QVCS step-by-step volume control that changes the voltage at the line output, and also participates in adjusting the volume level of the built-in HCLD headphone amplifier. For headphones, there are two 6.3mm jacks and a 4.4mm 5-pin balanced Pentaconn jack. Balanced connection uses active grounding to suppress noise generated by the power supply.
The TEAC UD-505 is equipped with a Bluetooth module that supports LDAC and aptX HD codecs, allowing you to get sound quality close to Hi-Res formats.
Thick sidewalls have miniature handles, as in rack equipment, and three support legs are equipped with spiked cones and thrust pads for vibration decoupling from the mounting surface. On the facade, in addition to three headphone jacks, there is a combined 3.5 mm optical / coaxial input. On the back side there are balanced and unbalanced outputs, an analog RCA input, as well as coaxial and optical inputs, BNC for an external clock and a USB port for connecting to a computer with "Bulk Pet" technology.
This technology has four modes and guarantees a more stable and uniform data transfer between the computer and the TEAC UD-505 compared to the usual asynchronous method, which is especially important when broadcasting Hi-Res audio. As a result, the load on both devices is equalized, which positively affects the sound quality.
