The OPTICON 6 MK2 speakers combine extraordinary deep bass, precision and dynamics, plus extraordinary detail and clarity in the midrange. The hybrid tweeter delivers incredibly detailed sound without causing listener fatigue.

Thanks to the extended low-frequency range, the OPTICON 6 MK2 acoustics are ideal for installation in large rooms, especially in cases where the listening area is located far from the walls.

A very important feature of the OPTICON MK2 series is that they are entirely manufactured in Denmark, just like the original OPTICON series. The entire series is produced in Dali's own factory from components that the company either produces itself or selects from the best specialized manufacturers.

Bass reflex
The OPTICON 6 MK2 bass reflex port allows you to use the acoustic output at the rear of the bass drivers to expand the low-frequency range and increase the power input. We have further optimized the bass reflex so that the subjective bass experience is absolutely ideal for the most likely applications and speaker placements.

Newly developed, taking into account aerodynamics, Dual Flare technology allows the OPTICON 6 MK2 to provide a minimum of turbulence at the input and output of the bass reflex.

Due to the absence of air vortices, the bass reflex ports effectively increase bass response, providing significantly higher volume levels.

SMC
The OPTICON 6 MK2 magnet system consists of a large ferrite ring surrounding a pole piece made entirely of SMC's proprietary soft magnetic compound. A pole piece and ferrite magnet mounted between the metal panels at the front and back provide the necessary magnetic field for the voice coil.

Soft magnetic compound (SMC) – magnetic granules with a special coating. This material can be formed into almost any shape and has many advantages for use in magnetic speaker systems. The unusual combination of very high magnetic permeability and extremely low electrical conductivity is exactly what magnetic speaker systems need to significantly reduce electroacoustic distortion.

SMC mainly serves to minimize eddy currents in the pole piece. SMC also improves linearity within the magnetic system and reduces magnetic hysteresis. All of these properties of SMC can significantly reduce coloration and loss of musical detail.

Soft dome tweeter
The unique 29mm soft dome tweeter, derived from the CALLISTO series, offers significant advantages over the original OPTICON series tweeters. A seemingly insignificant increase in diameter from 28 to 29 mm made it possible to significantly increase the radiating area of the diffuser, resulting in reduced distortion, increased power input and an expanded range in the lower part of the acoustic spectrum.

The use of the same 29mm soft dome tweeters across all OPTICON MK2 Series models ensures sound uniformity and consistent dispersion characteristics. The MK2 series soft dome tweeter allows crossover frequencies up to 2 kHz without the risk of causing distortion or exceeding power input limits.

Hybrid tweeter
The OPTICON 6 MK2 uses a hybrid tweeter that combines a 29mm soft dome tweeter with a proprietary 17 x 45mm ribbon driver. Both drivers are mounted on a die-cast aluminum panel optimized for controlled dispersion.

The ribbon driver operates from 10 kHz upwards, effectively covering the area where the dome tweeter's output becomes more directional. The ribbon element extends the system's frequency range to 30 kHz and significantly expands the area of horizontal dispersion of high frequencies.

The hybrid tweeter provides the clarity, speed and dynamics of a dome tweeter with the highest level of detail and refinement of a ribbon driver.

The placement of the hybrid tweeter between two spaced-apart woofers is primarily due to the fact that in this case the tweeter module is located at the typical ear height of a seated listener. Additionally, spaced woofers provide smoother bass response throughout the room as a whole.

Woofer
The OPTICON 8 MK2 speakers are equipped with two 6.5" woofers with paper-fiber cones. All speakers use SMC's proprietary soft magnetic compound technology.

Each speaker component is carefully selected for its positive contribution to sound performance. Diffusers in DALI signature colors, made from a mixture of paper pulp and wood fibers, ensure minimal resonance levels. They are mounted on rubber surrounds, selected for their softness and flexibility, allowing free movement with minimal damping in the low-frequency region.

Each speaker chassis is made of die-cast aluminum. They have the highest rigidity, low resonance levels and practically do not affect the internal magnetic system. The mechanical design of the chassis is specifically designed to create minimal obstructions to air movement while at the same time providing an ultra-strong mechanical connection to the speaker cabinet.

The OPTICON 8 MK2 magnet system consists of a large ferrite ring surrounding a pole piece made entirely of SMC's proprietary soft magnetic compound. A pole piece and ferrite magnet mounted between the metal panels at the front and back provide the necessary magnetic field for the voice coil.

The speakers are designed according to DALI principles: minimum loss, minimum distortion and minimum coloration. The ideal speaker reproduces exactly what the amplifier requires, adding nothing and taking nothing away, and DALI strives to get as close to this ideal as possible.

Frame
The OPTICON 6 MK2 housing design provides increased rigidity and minimal resonance. The 25mm thick front baffle provides a massive, rigid base for the speakers. Additional internal bracing further increases rigidity and virtually eliminates panel resonances.

The OPTICON 6 MK2 comes with aluminum feet that can be fitted with either black chrome spikes or, when installed on wood or tile floors, anti-vibration pads. Tools for mounting legs and tenons are also included.

All models in the OPTICON MK2 series are entirely manufactured in Denmark. Our own woodworking shop performs all operations for cutting and assembling fiberboard cabinets. Final testing and quality control is also carried out on our own assembly line.
