Acoustic pair: DALI Rubicon 8 Rosso

The top model of the Rubicon series speakers, which has an index of 8, is equipped with a reinforced bass section consisting of three speakers. With a body height of just over a meter, the speakers are not too noticeable in a modern interior, which is also facilitated by high-quality exterior finishes. Careful mounting of the radiators on the front panel allows the speaker to look good with the protective grid removed, which has an invisible magnetic fixation.

The Rubicon 8 is equipped with three 165 mm woofers, one of which is connected through a traditional crossover, and the other two are connected another half-band "down" each. This required a lot of work to precisely match all three woofers, but produced an excellent result in terms of sound quality.

Thanks to this design of the low-frequency link, the speakers reproduce bass starting from 38 Hz, which is an excellent indicator for fairly compact speakers. An additional advantage of this solution is the smoothness and refinement of the bass range with accurate reproduction of short impulse sounds. The woofers are loaded on a phase inverter, which is tuned to a frequency of 33.5 Hz. The crossover filter between low and high ranges in the Rubicon 8 speaker is set to 2500 Hz, which is optimal for accurate reproduction of live acoustic recordings

The high frequency section of the Rubicon 8 consists of a 28 mm fabric dome tweeter and a 17 x 45 mm ribbon tweeter. Thanks to this, the operating frequency range of the speaker system was expanded to 34,000 Hz, and made its sound airy and crystal clear. The crossover filter between these heads is set to 14000 Hz, which made it possible to equalize the frequency response of the speakers in the high-frequency region. Two pairs of gold-plated screw terminals are provided for connection to the amplifier.

The cabinet is reinforced with specially designed internal ties and has damping to prevent coloration of the sound even at maximum power input. The latter for Rubicon 8 is up to 250 W, which, with a speaker sensitivity of 90.5 dB, allows you to develop quite noticeable sound pressure in the listening room. The kit comes with spikes and damping self-adhesive supports.
