Акустическая система KEF R3 Walnut
The true 3-way R3 features a powerful 165mm (6.5") bass driver and 125mm (5") midrange driver with a 25mm (1") Uni-Q aluminum dome tweeter that pushes performance to new limits.
The price is for a pair.

KEF engineers don't compromise. The svelte appearance of the KEF R3 combines the same Uni-Q driver as the older models, with a 125mm midrange driver and a 25mm aluminum dome tweeter to achieve the same level of treble and midrange reproduction. . The woofers, which are slightly larger (165mm), also reproduce exceptionally clear bass levels, both in a small room and in combination with the rest of the surround speakers that are part of the home cinema.
The KEF R loudspeaker line has much more in common with the Reference Series than with the previous generation R Series. These are not updated compared to previously released models, but completely new devices. This is the first time KEF has managed to apply so many technological solutions and achieve such a high quality of reproduction in acoustics of this price category.
Incredible 12th generation Uni-Q driver. The design of the models of the new line is based on the 12th generation proprietary Uni-Q driver, which is equipped with a new motor system to improve sound at medium frequencies. In addition, the developers paid great attention to the impact on the sound of the gap between the high and midrange Uni-Q diaphragms, which should be minimal, but can widen at certain resonant frequencies. The new structure and special damping behind the tweeter eliminate these resonances, resulting in softer, more transparent and detailed high frequencies.
The design of the phase inverter suggests a crushing bass without resonant noise. Bass reflex acoustic design is known to allow the loudspeaker to reach lower frequencies, but often creates problems due to turbulent noise and port resonances, which usually “crawl out” into the midrange. Therefore, KEF engineers faced a new task - to somehow level the weaknesses of the bass-reflex design, while maintaining its positive aspects. In order to find a solution, the KEF research department used computational aerodynamics and FEA (Finite Element Method) methods to test many variants of bass reflex systems and settled on the original design. The port has special profiled flares at both ends to eliminate airflow turbulence and reduce transverse resonances. The walls of the pipe are made of flexible material to combat the longitudinal resonances of the port.
Low frequency drivers produce deep, fast, articulate bass. For the new R Series, KEF has developed woofers that allow high-quality bass reproduction when using smaller diameter drivers; the latter was necessary to make the loudspeaker front panels narrower, in line with modern design trends. The new woofers have longer travel, low distortion motors and stiffer diaphragms. As a result, the new R Series speakers reproduce deep, powerful, fast and articulate bass.
A premium design that manifests itself through modern trends and attention to detail. The speaker design of the new R Series deserves special mention. These loudspeakers have slimmer cabinets with narrow bezels. The speaker cones, speaker feet and brand logos are all in the same colors as the speaker cabinets, a first for this solution.
The system of internal struts as an excellent solution to the problem of unwanted vibrations. The new R-series uses the Constrained Layer Damping internal brace system, which provides additional damping for the brace attachment points to the speaker cabinet walls. This method allows you to effectively dampen unwanted vibrations.
Shadow Flare is a pure and transparent sound. Like other KEF loudspeakers, the Uni-Q's mid-range diaphragm functions as a kind of waveguide for high frequencies, but the new R-series models additionally use a special Shadow Flare ring overlay: it radically reduces the influence of diffraction effects that occur on edges of the speaker cabinet. As a result, the sound of the speaker system becomes much cleaner and more transparent.
Microfiber grills that do not affect the sound. Another major innovation in the KEF R Series loudspeakers is the microfiber grilles that look like suede. There are 1801 holes for each of the speakers in the grill, which minimizes the effect of the grill on the sound of the speakers and provides a high degree of protection for the cones.
