The B&W CCM 663 speaker is part of the CI 600 series of built-in acoustics and occupies the middle position in the CCM6 line, designed for ceiling mounting.
Bowers & Wilkins has always had its own approach to loudspeaker design. That is why the B&W CCM 663 has a special design that sets it apart from its competitors. After the niche for acoustics is ready, a light frame with a front round flange is inserted into it and fixed there using four spring-loaded clamping feet (QuickDogs). It is also equipped with two spring-loaded terminals for connecting speaker cables. The flange and its surrounding frame can be painted using the supplied mask. Then the main module is inserted into the frame, which includes a 6-inch mid/bass driver with a Kevlar cone and an inch tweeter with an aluminum dome planted in its center. The module is fixed using three latches that are easily triggered when pressed with a finger. If necessary, you can use a curly screwdriver (there are x-shaped sockets on the latches).
The Kevlar diaphragm of the mid/bass driver has the necessary rigidity and lightness for high-quality, undistorted sound. The speaker is also equipped with a solid molded basket for clear and fast bass. The tweeter is loaded on a Nautilus spiral tube that absorbs the waves emitted by the back of its membrane. The tweeter can be rotated by 15° and 30°, i.e. no matter where the speaker is installed, it can always be directed to the place where the listener is. To match the directivity of the radiation of the tweeter and the mid/bass driver, there is a three-position EQ slide switch on the front panel of the speaker. The CCM 663 has a flat metal grill that is attached to the column flange with magnets. As an option, the column can be equipped with a frame with a square front and, accordingly, a square-shaped grill. An optional mounting box (BB 6C) is available, which is installed in a niche and provides the necessary working volume for the speaker, and also prevents sound penetration into adjacent rooms.
The B&W CCM 663 is rated for a maximum output of 130W. This small speaker is able to compete with conventional cabinet speakers. Her sound is distinguished by naturalness, accuracy, transparency, as well as fast, well-researched and quite deep bass.
