element X2 Pure as a music streamer, which is a new member of our element series, welcome! In honor of Matrix Audio's 10th anniversary, we released the element X2 Pure. The word "Pure" means "achieving purity", it reflects Matrix's original intention to pursue pure sound, and also expresses the concept of simplicity in design that Matrix has always believed in. We make the product more perfect, just for your discerning ears, enjoy the music and meet the expectations of every listener.
Dual DAC design makes maximum use of chips and achieves perfection. The X2 Pure Element is equipped with 2 ES9039PRO chips, which is the new flagship of ESS. Each chip works in mono mode, every 8 DAC conversion blocks of a single chip work in parallel, which effectively improves the dynamic range and reduces sound distortion, while the left and right channel circuit is completely separated. Each corresponding design ensures accurate sound reproduction, providing more powerful sound and excellent listening experience.
The golden rule of industrial aesthetics is evident throughout the product. The left and right channel analog circuits have the same layout and components. They are designed in a completely symmetrical manner. The analog circuit is completely covered by a CNC aluminum shield, which effectively provides heat dissipation for the op-amps and isolates interference. No matter inside or outside, the X2 Pure element exudes a pleasant and meticulous design.
The X2 Pure's digital processing and digital-to-analog conversion circuitry is electrically isolated, with the ground wires of the digital and analog sections completely separated. The DAC and analog circuits are powered by ultra-low-noise LDOs, allowing for extremely high SNR and dynamic range, leaving the musical background as quiet as deep space.
With the MA Remote App on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone, you can browse and play music files from USB storage or NAS, or connect to UPnP media servers on your network and stream music to your Matrix devices. The MA Remote App lets you sign in to your streaming accounts, browse streaming music in the app, and stream it to your Matrix devices. If you don’t have a streaming subscription, you can also listen to internet radio from around the world without any hassle. You can also control the power status, input/output channel, volume, a variety of hardware settings, and update firmware using the app. Everything is under your control, just enjoy your music.
If you have a large digital audio trove, the MA player lets you easily browse and play music on USB drives or NAS. If you prefer high-resolution streaming, Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, HIGHRESAUDIO and Internet radio will be your huge music library. Roon Ready, DLNA/UPnP and AirPlay 2 provide various music streaming options.
The element X2 Pure integrates a variety of streaming services and local file playback functions, making it an excellent audio source. With coaxial, optical and USB connections, it can be an external DAC for CD players, digital audio players or computers, enhancing the sound of your existing audio system.
The element X2 Pure not only has a variety of digital input ports, but also additional analog input ports. Turntables with line-level outputs, CD players, and other devices with analog outputs can be connected to a modern digital audio system via the element X2 Pure. High, mid, and low input gain options are available to accommodate the different output levels of the front-facing devices.
The element X2 Pure has an HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) input. When connected to display devices such as HDMI ARC-enabled TVs and projectors, digital audio from the HDMI signal can be transmitted to the element X2 Pure for enhanced playback. If the display device supports the HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) protocol, playback on the element X2 Pure can be controlled via the display device.
The element X2 Pure features a superb preamplifier with +10dB of analogue gain. When the preamp is engaged, it can deliver high-quality audio signals up to 15.8VRMS, while Hyper-Control technology maintains ultra-low noise and distortion throughout the entire output range. When paired with the new P2 power amplifier, there is no need to add a separate preamplifier to the system. The coordinated design will please you both visually and audibly, providing sufficient power for a variety of speakers.
Async and Sync modes are still available for the X2 Pure Element. In Async 2 mode, the DAC chips use the Crystek CCHD950 ultra-low phase noise femtosecond oscillator as the master oscillator, and the oscillator from the external device will be canceled. In Sync mode, the built-in femtosecond oscillator is disabled, and the DAC chips are completely dependent on the oscillator from the external device.
The new RM4 remote control adds playback control functions, making it more convenient to switch tracks, play, pause and other operations. With 2 programmable buttons that can be set to frequently used functions via the MA Remote App. The aluminum and plastic material makes the remote control comfortable to touch.
The element X2 Pure features a 3.46-inch LCD touchscreen. Touch-sensitive playback keys, the MA Remote App, and a physical remote control make the element X2 Pure easy to use.
The built-in dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi antenna gives the X2 Pure Element a neat and clean look and provides flexible connectivity. Equipped with a Gigabit Ethernet port that provides a more stable connection when streaming high-sampling-rate audio files, it ensures that music data is transferred smoothly to your audio system.
The X2 Pure Element is fortunate to be the first product to be equipped with CBVB pads. The CBVB base is made up of ceramic balls and silicone rubber. Each pad contains 6 ceramic balls, which minimizes noise caused by mechanical vibration. Sound transparency is further improved, creating a wide and clear sound stage.
We used Nichicon's KG series audio capacitors as the main filter capacitors of the X2 Pure element. Their extremely low internal resistance and inductance allow them to effectively meet the energy requirements of high dynamics and continuous reproduction of rich low frequencies.
We have developed a new O-shaped core toroidal transformer, which has silver-plated output wires with Teflon insulation. Compared with conventional toroidal transformers, the round core magnetic circuit reduces the transformer resistance, which improves the efficiency and response speed of the transformer.
