The V90-LPS is a modestly priced, very high-performance MM/MC phono stage with excellent technical characteristics.
In our opinion, there are five critical areas in which a phono stage must achieve excellence:
- RIAA correction
- Correction above 20 kHz
- Low distortion
- Low noise level
- Good overload reserve
The V90-LPS has very accurate RIAA equalization that extends to frequencies up to 80 kHz and above. This may seem extreme, but at frequencies above 20 kHz there is a lot of information that needs to be corrected. If it is not corrected, it will manifest itself in the form of ringing and overloads.
The V90-LPS has very low distortion. The noise figure is extremely low and virtually inaudible.
The overload reserve is quite sufficient for any modern cartridge.
Overall, the V90-LPS does everything you need for a phono stage.
There are many phono stages that cost much more and claim outstanding performance. In contrast, the humble V90-LPS simply does everything you'd expect from a phono stage.
If you want top-notch performance and don't care about the perceived status that comes with buying an expensive product that doesn't outperform the V90-LPS, then we're on the same page.
