Phono stage Rega Aria Mk3 Black
The Rega Aria MK3 MM/MC phono preamplifier is made in a proprietary half-width metal housing and is very convenient for placement in any system. Structurally, in one housing there are two independent phono stages, for MM and MC pickups. This made it possible to eliminate unnecessary switching and obtain the cleanest and most undistorted signal for both types of cartridges.
The device is a completely analog device and does not contain any digital circuits. This avoided internal crosstalk that could interfere with sensitive audio circuits.
In addition, great efforts during the development of the Rega Aria MK3 were aimed at making the audio signal transmission path as simple and short as possible. This was achieved by implementing many of the company’s proprietary technologies, as well as developing new design solutions. The MC phono stage unit uses a special tracking circuit that automatically adjusts its parameters depending on changes in ambient temperature and other factors.
The MM and MC blocks of the Rega Aria MK3 phono preamplifier have separate inputs, with their own correction circuits. This made it possible to provide optimal operating conditions for each type of cartridge without any compromise in terms of the required characteristics. Switching the impedance and gain is done on the basis of a relay, due to which interference and distortion are reduced to a minimum. The MC corrector is made of pairs of field-effect transistors, which ensure the absence of leakage currents that can negatively affect the cartridge coils. For this input, settings for resistance, capacitance, and also change the gain of the circuit are provided.
The MM corrector in the Rega Aria MK3 is made using pairs of bipolar transistors. Each circuit in the phono preamplifier operates from its own power supply, while the input stages are connected to a separate voltage source. The device is manufactured entirely from discrete components using high-grade capacitors and precision-selected passive components.
