The Audio-Technica VM520EB cartridge is a standard elliptical model equipped with an elliptical stylized stylus. This reduces trace distortion and provides more accurate sound reproduction.

Instead of using one large magnet, two magnets are arranged in a "V" shape. The two magnets are positioned to match the positions of the left and right channels in the walls of the stereo panel. Therefore, the VM design provides excellent channel separation, extended frequency response and excellent tracking.

The para-toroidal coils improve the generation efficiency and provide excellent linearity because the magnetic flux leakage in this continuous and unified magnetic circuit is low.

The permalla plate shielding panel effectively separates the left and right channels while suppressing electrical crosstalk below 40dB. This is similar to the actual crosstalk value found in the grooves of the recording itself.
