Cary Audio
The first monoblock CAD-805 from Cary Audio appeared in 1993. Over the course of 25 years, it has undergone several updates and now, in its anniversary year, has earned a place in the Reference line. The amplifier's circuitry is similar to the CAD-805 AE model. The input stage is made on a pair of 6SN7 double triodes: first the signal passes through the input stage on a double triode operating in parallel mode with resistor connections, and then enters the anode circuit built on the second lamp. The signal then travels through capacitors to the amplifier stage on a single 300B tube with an adjustable feedback level. You can install 211 or 845 tubes in the output stage (both are included in the kit). As a result, the amplifier produces 50 W of power in pure class A.
Behind the lamps are two massive transformers: one for the power supply, the other for the output stage. Four electrolytic capacitors are also located nearby. There is a bias current indicator on the front panel, but you can also connect an external one - the socket for it is located at the rear of the amplifier, in the same place as the bias current regulator. In terms of connectors, the CAD-805RS offers 4, 8 and 16 ohm speaker outputs and RCA and XLR inputs. There are two fuses located near the connectors on the rear panel - one for the 300B lamp, the other for the lamps in the output stage. The fuse is also built into the plug, and the power cord is removable.
