Focal SIB Evo Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 Black

Cinema systems with Dolby Atmos sound support are becoming more and more popular. To upgrade a classic 5.1 theater system to an Atmos version, all you need to do is add a pair of speakers pointing up at the ceiling. Focal has just released a line of Sib Evo acoustics, from which you can assemble an Atmos audio system.

There are three positions in the line: Sib Evo satellites, Sib Evo Dolby Atmos Atmos acoustics (they are responsible for sound in Dolby Atmos format) and Cub Evo subwoofer. The Sib Evo satellite is fitted with a 5-inch Polyflex cone woofer and a 1-inch tweeter. The declared frequency range of the satellite is from 65 Hz to 25 kHz.

Acoustics Sib Evo Dolby Atmos is equipped with a three-inch broadband (aimed at the ceiling). The acoustic cabinet is enlarged compared to the satellite in order for the sound to be deeper.

The Cub Evo subwoofer (35Hz-150Hz) is equipped with an 8-inch driver and a 200W Class D amplifier. It can be used both as part of the Sib Evo system and in other sets for home cinema.

The compact subwoofer Cub Evo belongs to the theatrical line of Focal and is designed to work together with branded satellites. Externally, the device is an almost regular cube, based on small legs. A solid phase inverter bell is placed on the front wall, and the low-frequency head is directed to the floor. The driver cone with a diameter of 210 mm is made of the patented Polyflex composite, which combines high rigidity and low weight. The role of the amplifier is played by an ultra-efficient BASH driver (this hybrid circuit is increasingly found in subwoofers), delivering up to 150 watts peak. An interesting feature of the model is the fixed value of the crossover filter at 110 Hz. According to engineers, this is the most optimal indicator for precise coordination with the "native" satellites.

The designers paid special attention to ease of installation: each satellite is already fixed on the stand, and the user does not even need to choose the angle of inclination: this is already done in accordance with Dolby recommendations. If the new Sib Evo is to be used in a 5.1 or 5.1.2 home theater system, the speaker can be positioned horizontally, "turning" it into a center channel. The package also includes two brackets for wall mounting of surround channels.
