Stereo amplifier Pro-Ject AMP BOX DS

This miniature box is a stereo power amplifier that delivers a whopping 100 watts per channel into 8 ohm loads and up to 180 watts into 4 ohm speakers. Such high energy performance in the Pro-Ject Amp Box DS was achieved through the use of two-phase pulse-width modulation (PWM) technology, which provides a very high (up to 92 percent) amplifier efficiency.

The PWM amplification circuit in this model has been significantly improved by the company's engineers, due to which the sound quality of the amplifier has increased significantly, while noise and distortion have decreased. Moreover, thanks to the special tuning of the Amp Box DS sound, it was possible to give the same character as high-end single-ended tube amplifiers have. In addition, this model remains operational even when the load resistance drops to 2 ohms. The high efficiency of the amplifier not only determined the small dimensions of its case, but also a small heat dissipation, which made it possible not only to do without forced ventilation, but also without ventilation holes at all.

Amp Box DS is equipped with a pair of RCA input connectors, as well as universal screw terminals for connecting speakers. The contact surfaces of the connectors are gold-plated, however, the overall quality of the amplifier is also very high. The body of the Pro-Ject Amp Box DS is made of metal, and the front aluminum front panel is of considerable thickness. Also, the device is equipped with a control trigger input and output, with which you can control the inclusion of external devices or, conversely, receive external commands.

The amplifier is connected to an external power source with a voltage of 48 volts and a current of 2.5 amperes. With this unit, based on Pro-Ject's Box series components, you can create a compact, complete stereo system with flexible functionality. The Pro-Ject Amp Box DS will confidently drive even large floorstanding speakers and sound a medium-sized room with decent quality.
