Stereo amplifier Marantz PM14S1 SE
Integrated Hi-End class stereo amplifier, power: 2x90 (8 ohms), 2x140 (4 ohms), MM / MC phono stage, anti-vibration design, output for one pair of speakers, headphone output, remote control, Dimensions: (WxHxD) 440 x 127 x 453 mm, weight 19.1 kg
The modified and improved version of the Marantz PM-14S1 SE Black amplifier is designed for those music lovers who are seriously interested in listening to music in new High-Resolution formats. The device is available in two finishes (black and gold) and has a special anti-resonant body design. Its 5mm thick top panel effectively dampens parasitic vibrations, while dampened mounts provide the necessary mechanical decoupling. The copper-plated chassis reliably protects electronic circuits from electrical interference. The device is equipped with stereo balance and tone controls in the low and high frequencies. To control the operating modes of the amplifier, a nice round LCD display with a low level of emitted noise is provided.
The amplifier circuitry also uses improved, custom-made components. Branded HDAM modules are installed in the audio signal transmission circuits, while their total number in the PM-14S1 SE circuits is 24. These are modules of new modifications SA2 and SA3, the use of which has significantly expanded the dynamic range of sound, as well as reduced the noise level to minimum values. HDAM modules work in the PM-14S1 SE preamplifier and power amplifier, as well as in a separate headphone output circuit.
To ensure the compatibility of the amplifier with acoustics with different impedance characteristics, the output circuits of the device are made on discrete transistors designed for a significant operating current. The amplifier of each channel is made on a separate board with its own heat sink, which improved the quality and volume of the stereo image.
The Marantz PM-14S1 SE Black power supply has a high-power toroidal transformer. The device develops a power of 90 watts at a load of 8 ohms and up to 140 watts with an acoustic impedance of 4 ohms. The amplifier is equipped with a built-in phono stage for the turntable's MM/MC cartridge, two line inputs, two pairs of inputs/outputs for recording devices, a preamplifier output and a final amplifier input. With the help of the latter, as well as another power amplifier, the speakers can be bi-amped using a special switch on the rear panel.
