John William Coltrane is an American jazz saxophonist and composer. One of the most influential jazz musicians of the second half of the 20th century, tenor and soprano saxophonist and band leader. Along with Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong is the most significant figure in the history of jazz, who influenced both modern jazz musicians and the school of improvisation in general. In the 1940s he remained relatively unknown and played in various orchestras.
