Rega Planar 1 is equipped with a proprietary phenolic resin support disk, which, due to its significant mass, has the inertia necessary for stable rotation. The turntable uses a sub-platter design that is mounted on a precision-machined support bearing. The latter is made of bronze using Rega's patented technology and ensures stable and silent rotation of the disc. This model uses a belt drive, and the belt also has a patented EBLT design, first developed for the older models of the series. The Rega Planar 1 features a custom 24-volt AC synchronous motor that features a machined aluminum pulley. This model has a new scheme for stabilizing the rotation speed of the plate, and its switching between 33 and 45 revolutions is done manually, by moving the belt from one pulley groove to another.

The Rega Planar 1 is equipped with the brand's quality RB110 tonearm, which uses custom-made precision support bearings to Rega's specifications. The tonearm has an integrated shell and does not require additional setup, and the Rega Carbon MM pickup is standard installed on it at the company’s factory.
