Turntable Pro-Ject XTENSION 12 (with Ortofon AS-309S) (n/c)

The Pro-Ject Xtension 12 continues the evolution of the sub-chassis maglev technology that was well established in the 6 PerspeX . For the X-tension, this technology has been re-engineered using new maglevs that almost completely isolate the turntable's main chassis. In combination with the large overall weight of the turntable (about 25 kg), this eliminated even the smallest base resonances. This technology is a unique combination of "loaded mass" and "floating turntable".

The turntable's platter is made of metal because it has more weight than an arcyl platter. However, instead of a pure metal with high resonance properties, a specially developed low resonance alloy was used to manufacture the disc, which is additionally damped on the inside with sorbotan. From the outside, a vinyl coating is glued to the platter, which is a very good mat. After applying the vinyl coating, the platter is carefully balanced. This technology allows you to get a heavy, resonance-free platter.

Another consideration that was taken into account when designing the turntable is the amount of energy that is transferred to the base of the arm from the movement of the arm itself and the cartridge. This energy, as well as the energy from the motor and bearings (which must be kept away from the arm to avoid interference) must be controlled. Therefore, the X-tension tonearm also benefits from the high mass technology. Additionally, it is damped with a sheet of sorbotane. It is equally important that different types of tonearms can be installed on the base. The turntable comes with a pre-installed Ortofon AS-309S tonearm and a dust cover.
