The Polk Audio HTS SUB 12 subwoofer is equipped with a larger woofer and a built-in amplifier with higher power compared to those used in the model with an index of 10. Thanks to this, the Polk Audio HTS SUB 12 can be used to sound large rooms, in which it can become almost invisible, and its dimensions will not be decisive. The subwoofer is equipped with a patented Dynamic Balance woofer with a polypropylene cone. The transducer's magnetic system has been optimized by computer simulation, resulting in increased sensitivity and increased bass speed. The speaker is connected to a class D amplifier that develops power up to 400 watts. Thanks to the optimal matching of the speaker and amplifier, sound distortion, even at maximum volume, is minimized, and the elaboration and focus of the bass turned out to be very good.
The case of Polk Audio HTS SUB 12 is made of thick MDF, has gracefully rounded corners and a removable protective grid. The load of the woofer is the branded Power Port phase inverter, which, like in the younger model, is directed to the floor. In fact, the port works for a special chamber, the presence of which makes the quality of low frequencies independent of the type of flooring. In addition, in order to obtain the most even distribution of bass in the room, a special acoustic splitter is mounted opposite the phase inverter hole.
The Polk Audio HTS SUB 12 subwoofer control panel contains signal level and input filter frequency controls, as well as an absolute phase switch. To connect to a signal source, Polk Audio HTS SUB 12 provides linear stereo and LFE inputs. The device has a system for automatic switching on when a signal appears at the input, as well as a 12-volt trigger connector for remote control.
The subwoofer is of very high quality workmanship and, thanks to its well-thought-out design and finely tuned parameters, can be successfully used not only in home theater, but also in stereo systems.
